Power from the SunGenerating power for your home is not only more sustainable, it makes you independent from the grid. Power cuts won’t exist if you have a Madison Solar home system. Madison has any number of solutions to suit your needs.
Solar Day and Night
Your home power demands fluctuate during the day and night. Excess power produced during the day is stored in a battery for power demands at night. This makes your solar power available to you when you need it, even at night.

Hybrid Grid System
In Zimbabwe, a hybrid grid connect system means your property is still connected to the mains power supply with a battery bank for power cuts. A hybrid grid connect installation ensures you have the electricity you need, whenever you need it – automatically and regardless of conditions. This system also works in remote areas where there is no mains supply.
Let’s Prioritize solar yield in a DC-coupled system to ensure fast financial return on your Investment by cutting down on your ZESA bill
System:Victron MultiPlus/Quattro, powered by the grid, solar charger, solar batteries, AC loads and optionally also DC loads.
Solution:Older Victron Inverters use the virtual switch (VS) to enable ignore the AC input, based on battery voltage, and optionally also on electrical power being drawn by the AC loads. Newer Victron Inverters use either the VS or the new ESS (Energy Storage System) assistant. It will only charge the batteries from the grid if needed to preserve battery health, and leave the rest for the solar chargers. The mechanism preserving battery health is called sustain. This assistant has more relevant optional features: • load shedding • feeding back dc-coupled solar power to the grid • periodic equalisation/destratification charge Both solutions aim at making full use of solar power generated by your system while keeping your batteries fully charged for possible night grid failures or load shedding. Once legal and technically possible in Zimbabwe, Victron Inverters through Assistants and smart build in software are able and prepared to feed power back into the grid which will ideally generate an income for you on excess solar power produced by your array.
Victron and Fronius have partnered to integrate each other’s systems by incorporating software.Their products can seamlessly be added to grid tied or off grid solar systems, allowing the most advanced and efficient interaction with incredible flexibility to suit any of your needs. Perfect Symbiosis.

When You Need It
How much power does your home use?
Understanding Watts: A Quick GuideIt’s important to understand how your power is used
Watts are Like Kms-per-Hour
Let’s start with that 40-watt lightbulb. Power is a measure of the rate at which energy flows, and in electrical systems it is measured in watts (W). Watts are basically the kilometers-per-hour measurement of the electrical world, they tell you how fast the electrons are speeding down the road. For those who are keeping track, one watt is equivalent to electricity flowing at a rate of one joule per second in the metric system, which is also equivalent to 3.4 Btus per hour. A 40-watt lightbulb will consume electricity at a rate of 40 watts.
kWh are like the Km you have travelled
When you get your ZESA bill, the electricity you’ve used is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). While a watt is a measure of power, a kWh is a measure of energy. If you run a 40-watt lightbulb for one hour, you’ve used 40 watt-hours, or 0.04 kilowatt-hours, since a kWh is 1,000 watt-hours. In other words, 0.04 kWh is the amount of energy you need to run a lightbulb for an hour. If you travel 100 km in a car, you could drive at 10km/h or 100 km/h, the difference is the arrival time. Energy is similar. The more watts used, the quicker you will be using Kilowatt hours.
Your own Power Station
Now you understand the basics, Imagine you have your own power station (A Madison Hybrid Solar System), and every day you get a delivery of power (Sunshine.) You can now run your appliances using the free energy you get every day. Pretty soon your power station will pay for itself. You are less reliant on the grid and are helping reduce the burden on the current infrastructure. So not only do you get a sustainable power source that reduces emissions, you get the convenience of a system that is silent and seamless. That’s priceless!
